A Court case with multiple complexities vs the definition in google of a single word are quite different things, so I'm not sure why you are trying to even attempt to compare the two. As we all know, the word "shipping" was open to interpretation – that’s why it was argued in court, yet ultimately the judges interpreted it in the same way L&M interpreted it. I doubt anybody would try argue any and all Liabilities are in fact Debts, as you are.
If you don't believe how google defines the word debt, feel free look up definition of debt in the Cambridge Dictionary or any other dictionary of your choosing.
