Charlie Rose interviewed Eike Batista of grupo ebx
& oil subsidiary OGX tonight on Bloomberg. He made the astounding claim that OGX has had a 100% strike rate in oil well discovery since last August. All of their wells were in shallow coastal waters- not the deep "salt"wells that Petrobras has. If I recall correctly, Karoon has some of its leases in the shallower areas.
Batista reaffirmed the "grandfather rule" that companies that got their leases before the 9 th round will retain them but that the tougher exploration laws after this time will be enforced by the government. The interview
seemed quite recent & went on for some time.
I hope Karoon turns its attention to this area in the near future.
