currently they get a certain amount of $ per renewable megawatt from the Federal Government and then they on-sell that electricity for fat profits to end users (something like 60% profit)
solar panel installers received extensive payments from all sorts of Governments
small companies get R&D tax rebates from the Federal Government
in the GFC the banks got a Government Guarantee to cover their backsides...
there is almost no business in Australia or the US that has not at some point received Government subsidies directly or indirectly...so to make it off as a bad thing is just some entrenched interest trying to protect their patch...it's a game of musical chairs...
