I agree with you strongly Harvey.
It must be a couple of years ago now I wrote to the company and suggested that, if they were getting close to the “pointy end” of things and even THINKING of commercialisation of products then they absolutely need to employ a professional negotiator. Not a salesman, not another manager: a negotiator.
I received a reply that said they were quite confident that they had “in-house skills” to do that work.
My answer to that is 3 words: “NO. YOU. DON’T”.
Professional negotiators for battery companies or pharmaceutical giants would chew these guys up and spit them out. (And our guys would think they got a good deal!)
It’s very frustrating and worrying.
