    It really depends upon what you want to use it for. If you are into heavy duty work you should look and compare the more expensive end of the range as they generally (but not always) have beter torque.

    'No names' from places like Dick Smith, Bunnings, K-Mart etc can b bought for as low as $20. Some claim high torque and have variable torque settings. If you want only to drill into wood and use it for a screwdriver most of these will be acceptable. Particularly those with 14V or more power.

    Check also battery life and battery recharging times. If it takes three hours to recharge a battery and you want to use the drill for a big project you may want to consider one with two batteries so you can have one on charge whilst using the other.

    I bought an 'el cheapo' for twenty-odd bucks for general houshold small jobs and it is fine for the purpose. All 'el cheapos' and many of the more expensive brands are made in China and some of the 'el cheapos' are second brands for majors with no real difference from the more expensive product.
