Do you think this is some kind of pissing contest, of course ICE cars catch fire more than EVs.
But that isn't the point, when an EV does catch fire the consequences can be devastating, there only needs one to blow up in a major Innercity parking lot and the consequences could be horrific.
There are so many safety regulations in place for so many years to mitigate the danger of petrol, EVs have their danger, and they are only new and being rushed out without consideration for what could happen, chargers in underground car parks is a disaster waiting to happen.
John Cadogan's video about the idea they have for controlling EV fires on Scandanavian ferries is interesting, they are using brine that is cooled to minus 20C, this cools the battery and acts as an electrolyte to discharge the battery.
The problem is the battery is in a metal case and hard to access, his solution is for all EVs to have a standard hose connection so that the fire/rescue can connect a hose and quickly cool the battery with a cold brine solution that they have in their fire tanker, this would buy time if people were trapped in the EV if it was involved in an accident, it would prevent the battery from going into thermal runaway and give time for rescue to get the passengers out.
