In terms of domestic application I guess size is not deal breaker if we are talking ~ 1 - 2 cubic metres, particularly since the bulk is fluid storage and amenable to diversity of container shapes and number.
Efficiency means ~ 20% more PV panels or purchased energy compared to Lithium storage route. Is there much known on capital cost comparison? I think I read the Vanadium storage would be serviceable around 20 years compared to Lithium 8 -10 years. It also appears that the Lithium storage carries more risk in terms of fire but I'm not 100% on that.
