Google trend analysis:

Another week has passed, and this one has been a cracker. Volume was higher due to a busy shopping weekend (although it excludes Black Friday which was captured in last weeks analysis).

For those of you who are unsure what the following is referring to, please read the very first post in this thread. The only noticeable difference is the addition of Sezzle in the analysis and I now do the analysis weekly, looking at 7 days google trend at a time. This means each week the data is completely independent of last week and the week before so we can watch this battle unfold almost in real time.

The google trend "market share" among BNPL has increased 5% in 6 weeks which is crazy! Some kay takeaways:

*California, the US' biggest economic state has increased each week and now sits at 50%, the highest % of the top 20 states. Great news for APT.

*Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia and Colorado all jumped over 4% compared to last week.

*The APT marketshare in Colorado has increased to the point it has overtaken Affirm resulting in it turning blue.

*The only state among the US top 20 that is still in red (Affirm dominant) is Washington.

Below you can see APT compared to main competitors. A 2% swing between Affirm and Afterpay.

Surely this can't keep going up? Or can it? Only time will tell, but these are impressive google search trend numbers.

Every state in the US will evolve differently with buying through Afterpay. I lived in Michigan for many years and I know people there that are starting to use Afterpay a lot. Michigan demographics alot different to California. My example is that people in Michigan marry in their early 20s so there purchasing power from 25-35 are probably more children based shopping. Which within the US app doesn't have alot of selection(yet). The more merchants added along these lines the purchasing power will improve. California, Melbourne and New York probably works alot better with what is available on Afterpay (Fashion, Cosmetics etc). The runway is long...Keep up the good work.
