Some interesting slides in a presentation announced today by Alumina Limited (AWC) in relation to forecast bauxite supply gaps in 4 or 5 years time which is forecast to continue to grow. In particular slide 14. The creep up in Canyon's SP I expect is on the back of the work going on in Cameroon in trying to get a bauxite project going. Is it possible we could see an Iron Ore type boom cycle for bauxite over the next 10 years? Aluminium and its production chain (bauxite - alumina) have been seriously on the nose since the GFC. There has been no "mining boom" for aluminum related companies.  Companies and been cutting costs, curtailing operations and basically not investing in new projects since the GFC as china has produced a lot of low cost alumina. Whilst China have plenty of refining (alumina) capacity they don't have a lot of bauxite themselves and supplies are dwindling and to keep their own aluminium supply going they will need to import a lot of bauxite.

The timing looks to be right for Canyon in that they are not trying to jump on a train thats already left the station as many small caps do,  which inevitably ends in tears as by the time they get something real going,  prices are already in decline.

The Birsok project whilst quite a long way from the coast has a rail line within 10km which runs directly to a Port apparently suitable for bulk shipping. This infrastructure would normally kill a project like this. Still they will need a lot of investment which usually means a lot of dilution for existing holders but none the less could be life in this one yet.
