"world oil shortage looming" has been a popular subject on a couple of forums. One newsletter i subscribe to specialising in oil and mineral miners claimed that some "big boys" bankers etc in the know were actually leasing oil tankers, buying up stocks and parking them expecting to make substantial profits in 6-12 months - all due to lower oil prices meaning reduced production worldwide = shortages v soon. True or false i don't know.
However - it seems to me that IF such a shortage is about to be realised then a cheap takeover of an oil producer with good reserves (BPT) would be a major profit spinner for someone.
