Yeah look I realise it was a media documentary, but I have an interest in film, and this was slick as these things go. I'm sure they said it was 'Navy Seals Six', and certainly a featured former 6 commander (who 'sounded' like he was talking from experience i.e. actually having been in one of the helicopters, but maybe not) claimed that the Navy Seals Six were the best of the best in the Seals - there was no hint of sending in their second best team. That said there were 24 in the two modified 'stealth' choppers, and heaps more in the two Chinook backups, which they partly needed for extra seats home seeing as one of the Stealth choppers went down - no casualties but minutes of delay - right at the start of the mission forcing them to abandon the plan to abseil half the team down onto the roof of the compound. Instead they had to all come up from the ground level - obviously bad news when the chopper crash outside made a bunch of noise, and it must be little fun coming up a set of stairs when someone is above you defending. By the way, the doco made no bones that on the ground this was a 'kill' mission - there was no concession to it being 'kill or capture' like the media suggested at the time to appease the bleeding hearts (pardon me). They had detailed info and photos of everyone in the compound, and basically checked them all off (the bodies) one by one 'live' back to the bods and the white house, even as they went up the stairs SWOT style. I've been around long enough that I can remember the disaster when Jimmy Carter sent helicopters into Iran to try to recover embassy hostages and it all ended in tears. Seems this was weighing heavily on the Obama administration before Obama slept on it and then said 'go' the next morning. All good stuff.

On another matter - have you got a clearance to pop out to the live 3GL/Maul demo later this week - I'm down for the Thursday afternoon session, assuming MST can afford the ammo!
