The reason why they would start is because there is a rising middle class in China. In fact the largest in the world today. They are seeing what the rest of the world is eating/drinking/experiencing and they want a piece of the action.
I have travelled to china many times and notice in the big cities it is becoming very westernised. Kids and young adults now drink coca cola, coffee etc....instead of drinking traditional Chinese tea. The same applies with food....the younger generation are now eating fast food and departing away from the traditional chinese food.
It is real and it is happening.
