This article, Tshirt, is really just Muslem Brotherhood propaganda. It starts off simple... ", tensions are quietly brewing over the geostrategic, resource-rich eastern Shabwah governorate". They have been as STC was getting on top of the South and West fronts as well as Aden.

Then the article starts to lie and blame...one side is part of the Legitimacy (the M brotherhood) and other (STC) is part of the UAE sponsored secessionist. The UAE are even denied a strong bond with the KSA through the Princes, MBS and MBZ. They have plans of their own??

    It goes on,
"Following the Southern Transitional Council's [STC] coup in the temporary government capital of Aden last August, its forces expanded and sought to forcibly capture Shabwah, leading to 'a civil war within a civil war".

If I remember rightly, all STC's connected armies were North and westward when recalled during the "coup". In chasing the "Legitimate (Marib) armies out of Aden (see map in some previous post) - they went eastward to go back to Shabwah (why were they there in the first place and not on the front lines against the Houthi - say in Marib that was recently overrun by Houthi's). By this time, the Saudi's and later the UAE airforces stepped in and threatened to shoot thus reaching the standstill that lead to the Jeddah later Riyadh Agreement in November 2019.

Then this in the article "Not only did government forces manage to repel STC forces, the Saudi-brokered Riyadh agreement in November sought to unify both sides into a power-sharing administration."

Well labeling this army from Marib as Government, Legitimate forces - that is the problem. It is VP and Army general Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar (since 4 April 2016 he controls most if not all of the war sectors) Marib army who have entertained themselves in Marib for the duration of the war. So calling them Legitimate is correct - they wear Yemen uniforms but do not fight against the Houthi - but STC forces stopped precisely because their in the same war and coalition forces fighting one another is not a good look.

Tshirt, I want to make a difference here. All army forces of the STC are actively fighting with great success against the Houthi having taken much of the South from them - including Shabwah very early on in the war. This has been stated in many articles on the coalition's progress. And the Security Belt forces (e.g. Shabwani Elite Forces ) are all actively fighting with great success against the various terrorists having taken most of the South from them. This is what Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar's Marib army was fighting against with its tanks and other heavy weapons. Not the same.

"By January Hadi government forces were mostly in control of the Shabwah governorate, according to a report assessing southern Yemen's political divides by Helen Lackner and Raiman al-Hamdani."

This is true but in breach of the Riyadh agreement which required allarmies tobe on the frontlines against the Houthi’s. The Army in Shabwah came down from Marib last August and has stayed there since (after the STC won Aden). They will not budge. The Security Belt forces (as per Riyadh agreement) were to return to the job of removing all terrorist activities in these free Governorates, like Shabwah. Well having perfected the cleansing before been forced out by Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar's Marib army when the security tried to return recently, they found an exponential increase in terrorist activity all been played out under the noses of this Marib army.

Of course from my reading, I've found the coalition (KSA and UAE) to have distributed resources within this war that included weapons and war support to humanitarian aid. KSA have supported the North and UAE have the same in the South. Of course the South under UAE auspices have perform magically and removed Houthi and terrorist alike. The North, truly under the Legitimacy and hence Army general Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar control has done nothing. Asolutely nothing, sorry except gift the war to the Houthi.

Next we see Safer. The government oil company Safer is in the hands of the brotherhood - keep that in mind since Army general Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar controlis via the Marib army.

Then this beauty: Though the UN Special Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths said in January that Yemen was entering an unprecedented era of peace, the STC has refused to withdraw per the terms of the Riyadh agreement, which has barely been implemented since November while missing several deadlines. What the heck is the Marib Army doing? And what is this about UN talking about peace. All to highlight that the UAE backed STC are fighting well and noone else is. Pathetic! Bias and Propaganda by the Brotherhood lead by VP and Army general Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar.

Next it talks about the Elite Forces. But as I said above, overall the Riyadh Agreement reinforces the Elites to run the terrorist threat. But propaganda it is: "Since the Elite Forces failed in their initial attempts to gain control over the Shabwa governorate, they have remained in place and have continued to sow chaos against the governor and have threatened social and political stability,"

Lastly try this one: "Adel al-Hasani, a Yemeni analyst and human rights activist, told The New Arab. Analysts focus on how the UAE is driving the STC in order to consolidate its own control over the governorate for its geopolitical ambitions.

This is easily countered with a piece from NewKerala (Indian, I believe). I assume that if there were two men named “Adel Al Hasani”, one would not want to be associated with the other –unless of course they are the same person and hence a notorious member of AQAP. The article "Evidence emerges in Yemen of Al Qaeda-Muslim Brotherhood. Sep 05 2019..", makes a mockery of his claim as human rights activist but rather as a voice of AQAP.

We then get: "Shabwa's governor Mohammad Saleh bin Adyo tweeted that "It is very unfortunate that the Emirates are financing the chaos in Shabwah," adding that Emirati finance should be spent on "providing services or helping people fulfil their needs".
But he is Moslem Brotherhood through and through. The Hadi Legitimate Government through VP Ali Moshem hasinstalled Al Islah or Muslem Brotherhood in positions in the Office of the President as well as to Governors of manyavailable governorates it still controls, including Shabwah, and Marib. The STC has accused Yemen's government-aligned Islah Party of daily violations and driving Shabwah's tensions. Among alleged Islah violations include the kidnapping of a separatist leader's son in January. However, the STC seeks to banish Islah from Shabwah.

Strong STC accusations: "The STC has accused Yemen's government-aligned Islah Party of daily violations and driving Shabwah's tensions. Among alleged Islah violations include the kidnapping of a separatist leader's son in January. However, the STC seeks to banish Islah from Shabwah." True!
    !

"At the beginning of January it had even announced it was pulling out of the Riyadh agreement, in protest of violence in the Shabwa governorate it blamed on forces loyal to the Islah party."

    True!

    !

"The STC unequivocally opposes the Islah party, seeing it as a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, much like its Emirati backers, therefore viewing it as a terrorist organisation. This poses obstacles for the Riyadh agreement, given Islah's alignment with the government, and the STC has not ruled out further violence."

    True!

    !

"The military option is the last option for us, and it is among the options available to us in the event that the Muslim Brotherhood is determined not to leave Shabwah," said the STC statement in January, while also claiming that retaining an Emirati presence is vital in this supposed war on terrorism."

    True!

    !
The rest is victim talk: Brotherhood is getting beaten up by the UAE. Not True!

All just me and my opinion. But be careful what is read in who's favour.
