I recall it being mentioned before that BBI is under increased pressure from other parties invading their space to improve their particles. This company, Innova biosciences (Thermofisher) have come out with a range of "revolutionary" nano-gold conjugation techniques and are aggressively pushing into BBI market. Here's the advertisement on top of my page as I write this post. (Hopefully it gets replaced with one from BBI one day)
