timbin,
Capacity is only part of the picture of carbon exposure.
i.e. Redbank is 151 MW of coal, running baseload, say 90% of capacity, so output is going to be about 1190 MWh. At about 900Kg Co2e per MWh, 1017 Mt co2e.
Glenbrook is 112 mw, also baseload, but gas co-gen so carbon neutral, (ish).
Newman is an OCGT running at intermediate duty - say 30% capacity factor, 330 MWh at 600 kg per MWh, 198Mt co2e.
Carbon exposure is therefore a combination of size (Capacity) duty (load factor or utilisation) and fuel.
Estimating baseload as 90%, intermediate at 45 or 30% and peak at 5% duty, the output becomes:
Coal:MWh
Redbank 1,190
Flinders Northern 4,257
Flinders Playford 946
Gas: MWh
Oakey 139
Braemar 1,319
Pt Headland 828
Newman 331
Bairnsdale 41
Cawse 166
Pinjarra 2,208
Wajerup 166
Gas co-generation: MWh
Gembrook 883
So output proportions are:
Coal 51%,
Gas 42%
Cogen 7%
and taking carbon densities at
Flinders 1200 kg per MWh
Redbank 900
Gas 600
Proportion of carbon emitted is:
Coal 70%
Gas 30%
All these estimates are industry average rather than BBP specific.
DYOR, but offered as a guide.
