I personally do not see numbers like that, if we do than we're all going to pay because the US dollar will be worthless (physical gold to benefit). But i do think we will see a healthy pull back when the hedge funds are ready, your guess is as good as mine as to when that will happen. I have said several times that Australia is far better placed than the US, but there will be more volatility to come. It'll be interesting to see if the RBA raise rates, my guess is they will, as we still have inflation around 6% and a booming housing market, but if they do, it's going to cause some wide spread pain, not something I'd place a bet on. The baby boomers have more cash and less debt so interest rate hikes actually work in their favour, but it's killing the next two generations, so I understand why there is resentment towards the boomers. At the end the day boomers didn't cause this, it's more a case of prolonged low interest rates and poor government policy over decades.
