I think "afford" is open to interpretation. If people have to use bnpl for a coffee, then they obviously cant afford that discretionary purchase.
This whole bnpl sector looks like a ticking time bomb IMO. What happens when customers hit their limit and cant pay? Will the company chase for a $1000? They will most likely sell the debt for 20c in the dollar. Then cop some bad press, receive mass customer complaints and then the govt will slap on the red tape.
Well done picking a trend but enjoy it while it lasts
