BC Iron cashed up and looking for acquisitons in the Pilbara.
Reading between the lines in the quote in the article it seems the IOH solution may be seen as being a potential unlocker of stranded assets. Seems therefore the players in the region are seeing the barge and ship proposal as a serious proposal.
Quote follows:
He (MD of BC Iron) said it was an "interesting time" in the Pilbara, especially with Gina Rinehart's rail and port infrastructure for her $9 billion Roy Hill project being developed.
"You have the TPI (The Pilbara Infrastructure) sale, you have the Brockman access (deal with Fortescue Metals Group), you have Iron Ore Holdings looking at trans-shopping options.
"So there does remain a number of stranded deposits in the Pilbara that I would like our guys to revisit because I don't think we've looked as hard as we'd liked."
