the Business Council addressed the matter of the emission target for 2035 in this report. they offered what I expected of a sensible, conservative (not politicly), prudent org.
2035 target must be matched with ambitious policy: BCA
But while the Coalition debates whether to retain a commitment to pursue net zero emissions by 2050, the BCA also added that whatever Australia's next milestone target was, it must be matched by ambitious policy, or risk economic opportunity being squandered, and Australia being locked into "a disorderly and more costly transition to net zero".
"Ambitious but achievable targets with the right policies to deliver them are key to Australia's long-term competitiveness and prosperity," Business Council chief executive Bran Black said.
"This report is about making sure Australia has clarity on the steps it must take if it is to announce an ambitious but achievable 2035 target."The BCA warned that a quarter of reductions under a 60 per cent scenario depended on the government being able to reform environmental approvals to speed up renewables projects.
And it said a "sluggish" migration system would need reform to bring in the skilled workforce necessary for the transition.

they also discussed the cost if the target is set too high. its well worth a slightly longer read.
but what is take away from this is the BCA accepts that emissions must be reduced. why? because of the obvious: businesses suffer serious problems and aded risk due to climate change.
the BCA aren't stupid. some of the smartest most erudite people in Aus are BCA members and executives. I respect their advice. I think others should take the BCA advice sensibly.
I want to see the debates over CC end. its futile, although can be a bit of fun.
