Re Apple let us also consider they need to release ungraded phone then everyone needs to purchase that new phone! I for one and finding my iPhoneX very reliable and see no need to upgrade. They don’t own the whole market but I imagine Android will follow but who knows - risk is Iridium agree to a partnership there. If all phones had satellite features though could also be issues on jamming networks so of course there would be fees charged for messaging so in the end it will be very similar to Zoleo BUT what if your phone breaks in an accident?? Malfunctions?? Won’t start? Battery dies while sending SOS?? Zoleo are much more durable by the looks to shock and conditions. Doesn’t need to be switched on (200 hour battery) and can be strapped to your person ready to hit SOS. Be hard to do a Face ID when you are at bottom of a cliff with a face mangled up!

Buy their IP and and satellite company relationships and plug in even if devices are not needed and it can run direct to phone, possibly just in a few countries. Instant profit and everything is set up. Maybe Zoleo will have a direct to device subscription?? Remember Apple and Samsung are not network providers and don’t compete in that space to date, as far as I know - sure satellite networks are not your general cellular network but this sort of move of Apple offering any messaging and network could threaten their data carriers who generally sell their products.
Surely Roadpost and possibly even Garmin would have to be licking their lips at Beam’s share price. RoadPost would be crazy not to take control as even with the threats (which could take 5 years to play out) if we hit 100,000 units that’s $40 mill a year of revenue less costs of maybe $20 by then? Not sure they are big enough to swallow us up though for say 40c a share, they don’t seem to be listed. Garmin could be a device maker that Apple may be interested in though also. We also should expect Garmin to release a better device than InReach soon.
Some food for thought and I’ve made a few points there. It is a very very big world and I think there is room for many players though.
