Funny you ask, I have a simple workbook with a tab for each share held.
I allocate a growth factor for each share based on CPI, typical bank mortgage interest and a risk factor. For BCI, this is 22.5% pa / simple non-compounding, during lower CPI and interest, it was 20% but I recently increased it to cover the higher rates.
If I look at individual transactions, my first parcel (Jan 2025) would need to be sold at $1.91 to recover my 60.5c cost, my latest is 27c to cover the 24c cost with an overall 45.1c break even sell target, add compounding and this becomes 49c.
All things considered, yes I could have never bought BCI, I could have sat on the sidelines and watched but if I did that with Aristocrat shares in 2003 for $1.23 average, I wouldn't hold them today at over $53 and be earning over 50c in dividends.
Hopefully, I will be sitting back in 5-10 years earning good dividends on BCI.
if not we all know the saying "win some, lose some".
