Remember the invite-only BCIA Coal Drying and Handling Seminar and Mini-expo that I think BR posted a link to a little while ago? (Sorry BR, tried to find the post but couldn't locate it easily) to be held in Mid-June?

Managed to get my hands on a speaker's list, a few techs presenting, a few consultants, a few academics:

Dr Arash Tahmasebi, visiting research fellow from the Key Laboratory of Advanced Coal and Coking Technology of Liaoning Province at the USTL, China
    Mr Mark Frecheville, Torreco
Dr Nawshad Haque, CSIRO Process Science and Engineering
Prof. Robin Batterham, University of Melbourne
    Dr Andrew Hoadley, Monash University
    Dr Fedir Woskoboeno, HRL
Mr Stefan Blunck, RWE Power International, RE GmbH
    Mr Shigeru Kinoshita, Kobe Steel
    Mr Trevor Bourne, Exergen
Mr Ashley Moore, Environmental Clean Technologies

BCIA is holding a one-day seminar and expo on coal drying and handling on Monday 17 June 2013 in Melbourne.

This event will showcase the state-of-the-art in coal drying, from research through to commercial application. Coal drying and the ability to handle and work with dewatered coal is a necessary precursor to any future low-emissions brown coal developments.

The aim of the seminar is to bring together interested parties, build knowledge in what is now possible for brown coal drying, and to encourage further discussion on the next steps required for expansion of environmentally responsible, low-emissions brown coal utilisation.

Speakers will discuss the state-of-the-art in drying technologies, processes and engineering services to support technology deployment, as well as the latest research. The invited audience will include coal license holders, coal development companies, technologists, financiers, government representatives and researchers.

This will be a chance to see what is possible, and to network with a qualified audience of interested parties, including industry, finance, government and the research community.

The Coal Drying seminar will be the first in a series of similar events, with future events focussing on coal upgrading to value-added products (eg via gasification and/or pyrolysis), improving efficiency of coal utilisation, and carbon capture and storage technologies.
