There is actually more than one theory as to what share prices do exdividend. To say a share will drop by the full amount of dividend, not taking into account tax implications, also not taking into account the company specifics and other market forces is simplistic. My belief is that even if it does fall (providing gold is similar to where it is today), it won't be for the full amount.
