Maybe i misunderstood the context of your coment Froggy..
As in the case of Angelina Jolie, a person can carry a defective BRCA1, BRCA2 or both genes and not actually ever contract breast cancer or any other cancer. The defective genes do not indicate the presence or absence of cancer.
However, as the risk factor is increased there are people- like Angelina- who elect to have preventative mastectomies.
Perhaps the products of BD1 and GTG will indeed negate the need for preventative mastectomies in the future..
