I have seen this technology in action. You can blast solid rock with people standing 15 metres away. However for mining companies it is expensive and time consuming and not that efficient on a big scale. Miners tend to to take the cheap route at all times. No finesse is needed.
However the technology looked fantastic for construction sites. Inner-city stuff where there are people and buildings all around. There is a new CBD buidling going up in Brisbane - they took weeks with several rockhammers to chew out the foundation hole from solid rock. This new technology would have saved them tens of thousands of dollars and lots of time.
There is definitely an application for the technology - the question is can they make money from it. I cant see it ever being a major business but something small and lucrative.
