I think you have highlighted well the danger to any community of extremist parties or parties plainly unsuitable to governmemt gaining power.
You quite rightly seem to fear the greenies coming to power, who as well meaning as they might seem, are dangerous partly due to their myopic extremism and seeming tendency to jump lemming-like and unthinkingly on the latest enviromental bandwagon whatever the consequences. The kyoto protocol seems an obvious example of this as a display of unworkable stupidity they attempted to push through.
Of more real-world concern I think, is of the state of the labour party and the mafia-like culture of gangsterism and worse that seems to permeate their ranks.
The greater threat you outline obviously lies with the labour party that still has a large base of supporters who havent yet caught up with current events and the dismal state of the party they support, or just dont care about the consequences of allowing crackpots of low character and into government positions.
