Now the resurgent CCC is a brilliant company story thus far. Great fundamentals etc etc.
The sp has however been hammered of late. The volumes have been more subdued though in the last few days. Why is this so?
Well I'd hazard a big guess and suggest that the vast majority of trades in the last day or so have not been courtesy of some large institution (although they may well have started the slide south, due to the early large volumes recorded on profit taking). My suspiscion is that it is the 'Small Retail Trader' at work, scrambling to sell out and regain a foothold either after being burnt by the initial dump by institutionals or (if they have bought the story) sensing a possible scramble to safety at a predetermined 'technical' position.
The fact that so many investors are directly wired via their pcs'etc, means that the said volatility is even much more so. Our very own forum contains some pretty serious investment numbers by my reckoning and we should not discount the influence HC can have on sentiment at any given point in time, within these ranks. New bods are particularly vulnerable (take yo-yo for eg, although he stuck to a plan).
You see I look at the approx 40m shares traded on one day and I think, gee even me with my relatively small holding could make a dent in this if I choose to. If I think that I can do that, maybe others are also thinking that; if they sense a chance to prosper. Remember it is a big ocean with plenty of sharks.
My call is to either let the market ride or chance your luck you mad gambler you. It's a toss-up, but I see the short term (ie weeks-months not days) as likely to be very positive, with the medium-longer term as closer to sensational. AIMHO.
.................
And the point of my post was... Not sure really, it just seems to me that we should not discount the influence we can have here on day to day sp movements, individually or unwittingly as a collective.
How about we experiment and pledge not to trade at all in the opening 30minutes tomorrow. As I understand few serious investors trade in the first hour, so it would be interesting to watch. Anything under say 8m shares trade in the 30 minutes might suggest that we can influence matters. If more is traded, then I claim the experiment as null and void. Don't you love statistics.
Of course this is just foolish chatter, considering the basic fundamental truth that CCC is a great company. However that is the nature of the HC beast at present.
