If all you say is true – why are the polls so bad for Howard?

Why does the Australian public not see this wondrous leader and party that you describe?
The economy is strong and more Australians are in jobs than ever before. This would suggest that voters should be happy but the polls suggest otherwise.

The political pendulum does not swing as far as it used to. Both the parties have responded to what it takes to be elected with the end result that voters see too many similarities.
Voters may also be saying enough of the economy – what have we really achieved that is worth the sacrifices?

Howard has to win the election – It is all in his hands.
Rudd just has to keep his hands clean and the Australian public will do the rest. This explains the “me too” approach.

I think the Liberal party would have a greater chance if they forgot about bashing the Labor party as that is not where the game is.
The game is about stopping being thrown out of Government, not Labor winning.

There is need for change at the top of the Liberal party and after the election it will be carried out. Howard will be gone either way. By election loss or retirement. The party will see to that. Which one it is will tell us if he stayed to long.
