Not to be ungracious but your (conceded) error re Harris changes the entire thrust of your argument grant. tit for tat semantics are time wasting however.
I was fairly ambivalent to whichever of Gore or Bush won the presidency but became concerned when the Florida contest got hung and the whole thing descended into dirty tricks.
Then it became clear (to me at least) that Bush and his machine were rotten to the core. Gore was admittedly an extremely unappealing candidate but I wish with hindsight that Gore had won.
Republican support has gravitated to the South while Democrats hold the North. That I think is significant in the politics they stand for. I do not regard Bush as Right Wing however, any more than I regard Hitler as Right Wing. They are both thoroughly radical and absolutely unconservative (even though they both exploited the conservatives for their support). Bush could take us all anywhere and looks like he will.
