Spot on gouralnik. The only thing faster than a push bike in Sydney during peak is a helicopter. Even the motorbikes and scooters are slower, as they struggle to lane split, you can utilize back roads shut down to registered vehicles, and use bike paths and shared paths.

The bike used to be the fastest way to get around, (unless you include horses) 120 years ago. Then we invented the car, great time saver and freedom machine. Now the humble push bike is faster in Sydney than the people sitting in their expensive mobile lounge rooms that eat ever more expensive fuel and go nowhere fast, as you start, stop, start, stop behind the other victim in front of you. Yes I ride a bike to work unless it's raining, and then I too am a victim of the choking roads.

Bit of a hiccup with china and our dollar will be back in the mid 80's with fuel heading over 2$ a litre. This would have it's advantages, it would make the roads less busy, plus flush out some more properties on to the market, as people who live in areas with no public transport options would be done over by the cost of fuel. The people who have had to move out of town because they couldn't afford the property in town, because the prices were elevated by short term vote hungy policy, greedy speculators and bank reforms.
