A 16-year-old Kalgoorlie boy faces six charges, after he allegedly crashed a stolen BMW into another car and seriously injured a man.
A 51-year-old man was left in a critical condition when his car was hit by the BMW as police were chasing it through Welshpool on Saturday.
Police media spokeswoman Sergeant Naomi Smith said the crash happened at 9.35pm as a police helicopter chased the 16-year-old male driver through red traffic lights at the intersection of McDowell Street and Orrong Road.
The stolen car had earlier failed to stop for police along Albany Highway in East Victoria Park, she said.

The driver allegedly ran from the scene following the crash but was caught by police a short time later. He was not hurt.
The 51-year-old man is in Royal Perth Hospital where he is in a critical but stable condition.
The teenager was charged with one count each of aggravated dangerous driving causing bodily harm, no authority to drive, stealing a motor vehicle, reckless driving, failing to ensure assistance and failing to stop."
