I've been through a few mergers and to those preferring Beach to the Scots I would say: Be careful what you wish for.
Mergers are unpredictable, simply because their outcome depends on the goodwill of both partners, and people being people, that cannot be assumed.
One might assume that in this instance it is not a company merger, simply a JV, and that as the dominant partner Strike would be unthreatened. All good in theory, but ...
I've seen some very destructive behaviors inside merged entities and in my view it would be difficult for the Strike minnow to swallow the Beach whale without choking.
I'm the first to admit I know nothing about the people involved on both sides of the fence, but if I were Strike management I would be nervous about Beach getting a foothold.
