Bear or inverse ETFs are a great hedge. I've traded ETFs and also used them as hedge along with options daily for years and also have a percentage of capital as ETF investments.
Just make sure the ETF has high liquidity and that it actually represents the commodity,industry,index etc you are attempting to hedge against, also make sure to check the costs.
Stay clear of the accelerated ETFs x2 x3 until you have sufficient experience.
