tanny, I get your point. I was in a similar situation a few weeks back.
Key is to try to pick an early sector turn. I did that with REITS. I sold many of my resource stocks at 65-80% down and put the cash into REITS (65-90% down) for the turn.
Dividends and partial sales from the REIT sector has then enabled further trading opportunities, as well as the opportunity to average down on some of my heavy losses that I still hold.
