When you say 20 - 30 kms down the road, what area have you been looking at and what requirements do you have?
I still see good properties around that are a good price and although I am still a bear sometimes it is still better to buy (if you can afford the price) and get the value from having a home that you live in because in the long term, 10 years plus it is a monty that the house will be worth more than what you pay for it anyway.
Most of the discussion on this forum is about "investment" property of which a lot of people know nothing even though they post, and even though your own home is an investment it is not and should not be the total defining reason for a purchase
