Music merges with Art with the very innovative Sgt. Peppers Beatles album being released around 51 years ago.
The photo shows 8 Beatles, the real ones are at centre, wearing Edwardian military uniforms. On the left of picture are wax models of the fab four, looking prim in suits and ties.
The rest of the crowd are cardboard cutouts, hand tinted, and include people that Beatles simply liked.
Marilyn Monroe, Mae West, Karl Marx, Edgar Allan Poe, Albert Einstein, Sonny Liston and many others.
This one is of Abbey Road, and has no name of the artists nor name of the album on the front cover.
There had been a rumour by 1969 that Paul McCartney had died about 3 years earlier, which was likely a publicity stunt from the group.
It is said that the cover photo was purely a funeral procession.
John had said controversially, in an interview in 1966, that they were more popular than Jesus.
Therefore the lead character in white is John Lennon as Jesus, Ringo Starr in black suit next, the undertaker. Third is Paul McCartney, the deceased wearing no shoes, and out of step. Last in denims is George Harrison, the gravedigger.
How could the deceased be marching? He was the impostor for Paul and we know, because the cigarette is in the right hand, and everyone knows that Paul is a leftie.
