Beattie says Qld already in carbon trading scheme
Queensland Premier Peter Beattie says he has already signed Queensland up for a national carbon trading emissions scheme.
The Liberal Leader introduced a Private Member's Bill into State Parliament yesterday to set up Australia's first "carbon credit" exchange in Brisbane.
Mr Beattie says while he has not had the chance to look properly at that proposal, carbon trading is being carefully considered by the Government.
"I've made it clear that we are looking at trading emissions," he said.
"I am setting up a group within my Department to bring in a trading emissions scheme and the premiers have agreed to do that nationally."
