I suspect that with a 500 odd km distance from Newcastle to the Almond orchards, there will be a way of pollinating these orchards. For now of course the authorities need to be super careful, and easiest for the regulators to cover the state at first. But in the end state boundaries are a bit of an artificial construct in this regard, and I expect there will currently be some application of brain cells to reduce the standstill to areas at genuine risk, if there is no evidence of widespread infestation, through testing of hives etc. The real bugger would be if there were mites discovered around Hillston or Griffith etc.
