Just started to read "Outgrowing the Earth" YC. Interesting to note from first couple of pages that high density population Countries, such as Japan, China, India see the amount of available land for agriculture diminish as they industrialise and become more wealthy. As this process goes on the agricultural output starts to decrease, to the point that the Country goes from a net exporter to a net importer of food. Japan now imports 70% of it's food needs.

Makes me think we won't be seeing the expansion of feed lots in developing Countries to a great extent, since their grain is far to valuable in the belly's of the populous.
