As an update to the original 2009 post by patrickm, I present the following as published recntly. Please note, should Central seek the other 50% of Santos onshore NT oil and gas fields, the below (Falcon Gas Flow Beetaloo) may indeed be icing on the cake for central. Santos had undertaken seismic in the Beetaloo in 2014 and 15 and results from seismic date proved to be very encouraging.
I highlight that central has significant land holdings in the Wiso Basin, this of course being next door to Beetaloo Basin where inter connection of hydrocarbons seems highly probable based on research that is made available through the WWW
Falcon Flows Gas from Australian Shale Well
Falcon Oil & Gas has got flows of 1mn ft3/d out of a shale gas frack from Amungee NW-1H horizontal exploration well in the Beetaloo Basin in the Australian state of Northern Territory.
The rates regularly exceed 1mn ft3/d and consistently range between 0.4 - 0.6mn ft3/d, the company said September 29. Falcon added that it completed 11 hydraulic stimulation stages along the 1,000 meter horizontal section in the Middle Velkerri B shale zone. It said that the flow-back of fracture stimulation fluid continues to return to surface.
“Preliminary results of the first horizontal exploration well in the Beetaloo are very encouraging. The planned testing programme utilising a production tubing string aims to evaluate the potential gas flow rate of the well. We look forward to updating the market when further results become available.,” Philip O'Quigley CEO of Falcon commented.
