Reckon 1 bcf/d to Darwin is now Plan A. Just playing a game with the clueless Feds and southerners to keep both options fully open, maintain full competitive tension.
It’s all upside for NT, their gov is already fully onside, permitting isn’t an issue, $1.5bn allocated by the Feds for the port infra.
Build the initial small connection, start feeding gas asap, lock in a deal to build a fat pipe to Darwin and NTLNG, drill out the 1+ bcf/d resource. Once pilot is proven and a few more wells have consistent flow rate, BP and Shell will be all in to build NTLNG. Or the Japs.
Selling to Asia is much more predictable. Why bother with intermittent gas flows and indecisive bureaucrats? See ya later Melbourne!
Bet this plays out in the run up to the Fed election.
The Texans have a pretty low opinion of the Feds.
