Thanks for the info - A few obs of mine - Over 3 years I have never seen a flying beetle here except up to several in my rain gauge particularly after light rain / spitting - I am aware of insects - I notice wasps around nesting under our eaves - I dislike flies hovering around our doors - if these fiddler beetles were around our garden with their bright lime green markings - I think I might have spotted one. my rain gauge is only 4cm square at top - 16 squ cm compared to our block of ~1,000 squ m - hence my curiosity - thanks again for all your info and I will ask around neighbours when an opp presents - to see what they say - and will keep on keeping an eye out for the brilliantly marked critters
