cerhob I don't have a document to hand which I can refer you to but it is a fact. These things happened a long time ago and I am not sure where to look now for documented proof.
He spent much of WW2 confined at Hopevale, which was at that time a Lutheran (German rooted) mission north of Cooktown.
He and his comrades there were further investigated over the source of illegal clandestine anti-allied radio transmissions emanating from that locality but the transmitter was never found and nothing further eventuated.
I know this from old people with local knowledge and I am told it was reported in the Cairns Post at the time.
I guess as nothing was ever proven the matter just got buried and forgotten.
