Just a little fact check.
Microdots (either metallic or polymer) were not invented or developed by Datadot or CSIRO. That is NOT true at all. Plastic microdot have their origins in 1870 and were also used in WW1 and WW2 Germany to covertly pass on secret messages. Metal microdot were developed and patented by Optaglio s.r.o. in Czech Republic in 2004.
Datadot has never patented polymer microdots and the same product is made by several companies in US, UK, South Africa, Singapore and possible elsewhere. So this is a simply appropriation of a product known how produced well before anyone of us was even born. DDT has tried to patent the product with no broad success.
Datadot has NEVER produced metal (made of any metallic material) microdots. All metal microdots sold by Datadot are bought and repackaged by Datadot from third parties. Simple as that. The statement that DDT had developed metal microdots is either a blatant lie or a fact that the new DDT ownership has no clue of the product origin. DDT has tried to patent the product (twice) with no success.
Talking about patents - DDT has submitted applications for many patents. Not one is accepted world wide.
What DDT has developed in coop with CSIRO is the trace. It is based on standard rare earth material, very good methodology of mixing the materials to achieve different emissions. This combined with the proprietary reader WAS a good solution. Unfortunately very little was sold in comparison to the expense. NOTE - this product is also sold as DNA or as a tracking solution. It is neither. Nothing at all to do with DNA and definitively no tracking ability. Simply mark product and forget. Definitively not a money maker, let alone a profit maker. CSIRO is also on the loosing side as they accepted shares for the technology and we all know what the shares a worth these days.
The above is not a reflection on the new ownership people. They are stuck with what they have and am sure are doing their best. Problem is that the train has left the station long time ago and it will be very hard to catch it. There are many companies that offer the same or better product. Why are they profitable? Simply because microdots alone are not the answer, but broad solution based on different technologies are.
I sold mu DDT shares that I held for some 8 years a while back and at a great loss. I hope that not all shareholders will be in a same boat.
