I get the impression that 'sharing one's truth' may be - in some cases - a way of seeking endorsement of the material being presented.
Yes indeed, If the purpose of presenting the information is for discussion - which I would think would be in line with presenting information on a discussion forum - it would not be touted as "one's truth".
