It's obvious that there are some in China who are 'old guard' and want to try to bend the rest of the world to their own ideology.

It stinks, but that's the way some countries are. They don't understand democracy and are scared stiff by it. They cannot distinguish between economics and dogma.

However, within the government in China there are many very bright and well-travelled younger people who have had a lot more experience in the world and hopefully will hold more influence in China as time goes on.

HC seems to get posts from the old guard ideologues in China from time to time. Probably part of the internet blitz that comes from China and those who have sympathy with the 'old guard' in China.

I'm pleased to see that Australian politicians seem to be able to wend their way through the intricacies of the Chinese political and economic systems and hope we can continue to build good relations with China without compromising our own values, particularly our freedom.
