Flattery will get you nowhere. Worked as an engineer but it was fitters that taught me how to use tools, which tools to use and the value of good tools. Price is what you pay, quality is what you get. I had an admiration fog a good fitter and turner. During the war I saw one who set up a workshop and made a small petrol engine. Made everything but the spark plug. Would you believe there are still "Reading" engines running today. His name was Hugh Reading. As a youngster I was fascinated by his ability.

As for bad language. When I was young and stupid I swore a lot. I was engineer in charge of a crew of about 60 when one day an 80 year old Maori working with us as a boatman took me aside and said "xxxx I never went to school. You must have had a good education. Surely you can express yourself without using that language. I don't need to". I stopped swearing that day and have hardly ever sworn that way since.

Think about it. One day you may even thank me.
