I've never been a fan of the PLA factions within the CCP Politburo.
I've opposed Xi's bastardisation of the Chinese Constitution,
- a principle pillar of which had been to spread power around (rather than concentrating it around a dear leader for life).
That said, China is not Xi and Xi is not China. China is something bigger and better than a single authoritarian dear leader.
The Chinese political structure, can like any other, be made to work as intended but paranoia first needs to dissipate. As I see it, the PLA strategy will ultimately create what it is trying to avoid..... that being unresolvable internal fractures. The hard line agenda is a failed one and it needs to be called out as such however the tariff wars and sabre rattling will only increase Politburo paranoia and alignment to the PLA political agenda.
Australia needs a stable and happy China. Exacerbating Politburo paranoia and exacerbating China's many internal fractures won't deliver this outcome.
cheers
