I worked for 15 years in a govt. dept where it became the norm to hire '30 year olds' with degrees that had no relationship to their jobs.

Our performance indicators were changed so many times over the last few years to try and make them look good. But, it's been a huge failure. They just don't have the knowledge and experience to carry it off. Worse, they don't have the nouse to admit when they're wrong. Their ego's are living breathing things that cannot accept criticism.

Our annual budget has increased 22% but our effectiveness has decreased 38% which requires reams of spin to make it look ok.

I don't blame them individually, they just haven't got a clue. Unfortunately, they've been brought up to believe that they are special. Somehow more intelligent and clever than everyone else. I get on well with them, they think I'm a dinosaur. Our society is in for a huge shock.
