This is Australia exercising its sovereignty, just as China does. China is not naively expecting other sovereigns to acquiesce to its every demand. It will be expecting other sovereigns to act in their own best interest just as China does. China will continue to use public shows of displeasure and behind the scenes diplomacy to exert its influence, as will Australia. The cut and thrust of global politics. We are both trading nations with mutual economic interests. Despite the political rhetoric, deals will be done, money will be made, and economics will dictate the agenda. This is an over-hyped issue, but it gives journalists something to write about and gives academics something to pontificate over. The bureaucratic changes will come to an end soon, and CFDA approvals will start to flow. The BAL SP is simply a casualty of some temporary uncertainty. This is a company with a good product and a bright future.
